The Zamfara state government, through its Ministry of Women Affairs, Children, and Social Development, has made a commitment to sponsor the education and meet the other needs of a six-year-old boy. This young boy gained attention on social media when a video of him grieving and vowing to avenge his father’s killing circulated.
In an official statement released on Thursday by the ministry’s spokesperson, Suleiman Isah, Commissioner Nafisa Maraduna, who heads the Women Affairs, Children, and Social Development Ministry, expressed this pledge during a meeting with the child and his mother in her office.
Commissioner Maraduna disclosed that she had received instructions from the state’s First Lady, Huriya Lawal, to locate the boy and his mother to provide them with support and the necessary counseling. She emphasized that the child would receive specialized counseling to help improve his mental and emotional well-being and to prevent potential future issues.
Additionally, Maraduna stated, “We have provided capital to the child’s mother to help her start a business and ease her hardship.”
The statement also noted that both the boy and his mother expressed their gratitude to the governor’s wife for her generous gesture, with the mother indicating her willingness to participate in counseling the child.
