Police have apprehended two individuals suspected to be part of the Oodua Nation Agitators who forcefully entered the Alausa Division of the Lagos State Police Command. The spokesperson of the command, SP David Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that the agitators stormed the station at approximately 5:30 am on Sunday, May 28, 2023, armed with various charms and cutlasses.
According to LIB, during the invasion, the suspects began recording the scene using their mobile phones while chanting slogans about the Yoruba Nation taking control in Yorubaland. They also physically assaulted police officers who tried to disperse them. “Today, on the 28th of May 2023, at around 5:35 am, a group of approximately 15 men representing the Yoruba Nation Agitators arrived at Alausa Division. Upon their arrival, they immediately started recording the incident on their phones and chanting slogans such as ‘No more Nigeria Police Again’ and ‘Yoruba Nation has taken over’ in Yorubaland,” read the official statement.
In response to the situation, the police swiftly dispatched reinforcements, resulting in the arrest of two agitators, while others managed to escape. The authorities recovered various charms, cutlasses, and insignia associated with the group from the arrested individuals. The Yoruba Nation Agitators claimed to have come to the station with an official letter, purportedly approved by the United Nations. Police security in and around the station, as well as the entire Alausa vicinity, has been strengthened, restoring stability.
