In a recent incident, a woman raised an alert with the Department of State Services (DSS) after encountering an unusual situation during a ride booked through a prominent ride-hailing app.
The X user, booked a ride and was surprised to find a female driver upon receiving the arrival notification.
Despite the initial appearance of the correct driver, she observed disparities in the car model. The driver explained that her listed Toyota Matrix was undergoing repairs, presenting a different vehicle. Adding to the confusion, another Toyota Matrix, matching the app details, arrived with a female driver wearing sunglasses.
Upon entering the legitimate Toyota Matrix, she shared her concerns with the driver, who expressed equal confusion. Subsequently, the X user discovered that the imposter driver departed without picking up the supposed passenger she claimed to be there for.
Concerned X users speculated that the initial female driver might be a potential threat monitoring the app. In response to this alarming incident, the vigilant customer promptly reported the case to the Department of State Services (DSS).
