The ceremony, held at the Presidential Villa, was attended by Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, along with other dignitaries.
“On June 19, President Bola Tinubu appointed Mr. Adeniyi as the acting CG of NCS,” the statement continued.
Vice President Shettima commended President Tinubu’s decision, describing it as a source of encouragement for the officers in the service. He expressed his congratulations to Mr. Adeniyi, stating, “Congratulations on bringing professionalism back to the Nigerian Customs Service. Now, every Customs officer can aspire to reach the pinnacle of their profession. I wish you well on behalf of the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces. Congratulations, once again.”
After the decoration, Adewale Adeniyi expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for appointing a serving officer as the head of the agency. He assured the President and the Nigerian people of a more effective and innovation-driven NCS.
“In the last eight years, the NCS has undergone a period of transition,” Adeniyi explained to State House correspondents. “We have made progress in areas such as e-Customs and capacity building. However, we believe that the NCS can reach its full potential by introducing more innovation into our operations. In the years ahead, we will strive for professionalism and collaboration with key stakeholders. We intend to bring forth innovations that will benefit all partners and stakeholders involved.”
Adeniyi emphasized the service’s commitment to leveraging technology and innovation to achieve new milestones in their operations.
