Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, recently introduced a new logo for the social media platform, replacing the iconic blue bird symbol. The new logo features a white ‘X’ on a black background. Linda Yaccarino, the CEO of Twitter, enthusiastically announced the change on her Twitter account with the message, “X is here! Let’s do this.” The logo was also prominently displayed on the company’s offices in San Francisco.
This logo overhaul marks the latest transformation since Musk acquired the social media giant for a staggering $44 billion the previous year. In a series of tweets on Sunday, the billionaire entrepreneur shared his plans to roll out the new logo globally, aiming for the change to be implemented as soon as Monday. Musk expressed his intention to eventually phase out the Twitter brand and gradually move away from all bird-related imagery.
Although the new ‘X’ logo can be seen on both Yaccarino’s and Musk’s Twitter handles, the familiar Twitter blue bird still remains visible across the platform. Not everyone is thrilled with the change, as the hashtag “#GoodbyeTwitter” began trending on the platform with many users expressing criticism towards the new logo.
