President Bola Tinubu has commiserated with the Alli family and the Nigeria Army over the death of Major-General Chris Alli (rtd), former Chief of Army Staff, who passed away on Sunday.
Major-General Alli was Chief of Army Staff from 1993 to 1994 when he retired from Service.
Describing the death of the former Chief of Army Staff as a painful loss, President Tinubu in a statement by his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, on Monday said;
“I condole with the Alli family and the Nigerian Army over the sad loss of the former Chief of Army Staff. He served his country with honour and retired meritoriously. May the Almighty God rest his soul and grant his family the fortitude to bear the huge void”.
The statement also noted that Major-General Alli held other important positions in the Nigerian Army, such as Director of Military Intelligence (DMI), before his elevation to Chief of Army Staff, adding that he was a respected officer.
