Tech lawyer and policy consultant, Timi Olagunju, has urged President Bola Tinubu to interact with market women to gauge the impact of his policies on the nation, in a live program on Channel TV.
Mr. Olagunju emphasized that the effectiveness of President Tinubu’s government can be assessed through the opinions of ordinary citizens on the streets.
In his own words: “Let me thank God for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He is a president, and I’m going to put it to him, simple. I remember in 2004/2005, he visited the University of Ibadan, and he made mention of something in the lectures he delivered, that development is when the market woman on the street is happy that she has food on the table, shelter over her head, and clothing to wear. You don’t need big words to understand whether there is development or not.”
Mr. Olagunju went on to challenge President Tinubu to go incognito and ask the average Nigerian, especially market women, whether his policies have improved or worsened the situation in Nigeria.
Recently, there has been growing criticism of some of President Tinubu’s policies, particularly the removal of fuel subsidies, which has resulted in increased petrol prices and inflation, negatively impacting the nation’s socioeconomic progress.
