Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro has made his selection for the upcoming African Nations Cup qualifier against Sierra Leone on June 18 in Monrovia. The squad includes four players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) who have showcased their skills during the NPFL Super Six in Lagos. The chosen players are Chidiebube Duru and Victor Sochima from Rivers United, Olorunleke Ojo from Enyimba FC, and Divine Nwachukwu from Bendel Insurance.
The squad also features experienced players such as captain Ahmed Musa, who is set to earn his 109th cap, and the return of William Troost-Ekong. Additionally, prominent names like Samuel Chukwuze, the best African player in La Liga, and Victor Osimhen, the newly crowned Serie A Capocannoniere, are included.
Nigeria currently leads Group A with nine points from four matches, followed by Guinea Bissau with seven points. Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe complete Group A with five points and one point, respectively. The match will take place at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Liberia, as Sierra Leone does not have a CAF-approved stadium in the country.
