Senator Ned Munir Nwoko of Delta North has reacted to the tragic demise of Miss Greatness Olorunfemi, who fell victim to ‘one-chance’ operators in Abuja and later passed away after medical staff at Maitama General Hospital reportedly refused to provide care due to a lack of a police report.
In response to this heartbreaking incident, Senator Nwoko, emphasized the need for hospitals to be obligated to provide immediate care in emergency situations and subsequently report the case to the nearest police station if they suspect foul play.
“This is heart-wrenching. I can’t believe that this happened in Abuja. The hospitals must be mandated to treat all emergency matters and then report to the nearest police station while the treatment is ongoing if they suspect the circumstances”, he expressed.
He further called for a thorough investigation into the actions of the hospital, particularly focusing on the senior medical officers who declined treatment for Greatness. Senator Nwoko suggested that they should be personally investigated and potentially charged with negligent homicide or other relevant offenses.
Additionally, he urged the police to conduct a comprehensive investigation to identify and prosecute the individuals responsible for the crime, potentially on charges of murder and other related offenses.
