In recent developments, Hon Edison Ehie, the House Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, has been relieved of his position.
According to an insider, Ehie’s removal occurred within the context of a crisis within the Assembly.
Simultaneously, a significant incident unfolded at the House of Assembly Complex on Sunday night.
Reports indicate that the Assembly Complex fell victim to a fire attack orchestrated by unidentified individuals. However, the timely intervention of the Federal Fire Service and security agencies succeeded in extinguishing the fire.
According to SaharaReporters, “House Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Edison Ehie has been removed from his position as the Leader of the House.”
It was further revealed that Ehie faced accusations of overseeing the deliberate burning of the House of Assembly on Sunday night to allegedly favor the governor.
“The governor is at odds with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike,” the source added.
Meanwhile, it was learned that the Speaker of the House issued an impeachment notice to Governor Fubara.
In some quarters, there is speculation that the arson attack was an attempt to thwart any move to oust Ehie and initiate an impeachment process against Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
At the time of reporting, the security of the complex had been assumed by law enforcement agents from the nearby Rivers Police command, and a fire truck was spotted on the premises.
