The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State recently issued a statement denying that it had invited the immediate past governor of the state, Nyesom Wike, to join the party. The party’s Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju, referred to those making such claims as imposters and argued that Wike was ashamed to join a party he had previously referred to as cancer. Daily Post reported.
Furthermore, Nwauju reminded the public of the terror that was unleashed on APC members during Wike’s administration, which he said is enough evidence to confirm that Wike has no business with Rivers State APC. The spokesman of APC thus disassociated the party’s leadership from any “so-called” stakeholders meeting that suggested the party and its benefits should be handed over to Wike.
Nwauju also dared anyone to provide video evidence of Wike openly campaigning for the APC in the state during the just-concluded election. The statement reiterated the party’s resolve to lend 100% support to the policies and programs of the Federal Government under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.
While the statement warned against using the party’s name for personal gain, it also cautioned against the shameless tradition of desperate politicians seeking relevance at the centre. By making such a statement, the APC in Rivers State is reiterating that the party is committed to maintaining its integrity and that it will not align itself with individuals who seek to use its name solely for their gain.
In summary, the APC in Rivers State has made it clear that it did not invite Nyesom Wike to join the party and that those making such claims are imposters. The party has also reminded the public of the terror that was unleashed on APC members during Wike’s administration and reiterated its support for the policies and programs of the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
