The discovery of a mutilated corpse in Edikwu River in Otukpo, Benue State, has led to the arrest of five suspects by the police. The body was identified as that of 29-year-old Babatunde Moses, according to the State Commissioner of Police, CP Okoro Alawari Julius.
According to LIB, CP Julius addressed journalists in Makurdi, revealing that Moses had gone missing after attending a burial ceremony with his friends. On May 20, 2023, at approximately 1:45 PM, the Otukpo Police Division received information about an unidentified corpse with missing internal organs found at the Edikwu river bank. In response, a team of detectives was dispatched to the area to initiate an investigation.
During the course of the investigation, it was uncovered that the deceased, Babatunde Moses, had last been seen sitting with his friends at the burial ceremony. As a result, the following individuals were apprehended in connection with the case: Idoko Omoru, Eze Emmanuel, Obande Emmanuel, Ameh Peter, and Sunday. Further investigation is underway to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death and the removal of the internal organs.
In a bid to assure the safety of the people of Benue State, CP Julius expressed his commitment to ensuring peaceful nights for all residents. He extended gratitude for the continued cooperation of the public with the police, urging them to provide the same level of support and cooperation as they had given his predecessors.
