The acting governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has taken his position at the Governor’s office, gearing up for his official swearing-in ceremony as the state’s governor.
Aiyedatiwa is set to be sworn in by the state Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola, in Akure, the state’s capital.
It’s a somber moment as the state remembers Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who passed away today at the age of 67. The state government confirmed that Akeredolu died around 2 a.m. while receiving treatment in a German hospital.
In light of this tragic event, Aiyedatiwa promptly ended his vacation and returned to the state.
Inside the Cocoa Hall of the Governor’s office in Akure, preparations are underway, with commissioners, aides, and guests already seated for the ceremony.
Prior to this, Aiyedatiwa had attended a significant annual event at Igbokoda, the “Ilaje For Christ” program. Collaborating with Ilaje religious leaders, the gathering was a testament to gratitude, celebrating the end of violence and the restoration of peace in Ilaje land.
Addressing attendees, Aiyedatiwa remarked,
“We are here again to thank God for Nigeria, Ondo state and Ilaje nation.
“Two years after the commencement of this yearly praise and worship programme, there’s no more spilling of blood in our land.
“The remaining days of this year, God will surprise all of us and we will enter the New Year triumphantly.”
