Following the impeachment of Philip Shaibu by the Edo State House of Assembly, Omobayo Godwin has assumed office as the new Deputy Governor of Edo State.
Governor Godwin Obaseki swiftly nominated the 37-year-old Omobayo for the position shortly after Shaibu’s impeachment, marking a significant transition in the state’s leadership.
Omobayo took the oath of office at approximately 1:40 pm on Monday, administered by Edo Chief Judge Justice Daniel Okungbowa.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Edo State Government House in Benin City, solidifying Omobayo’s role as the state’s Deputy Governor.
