The Commander of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo, recently made a solemn admission regarding the tragic incident that transpired on July 1, 2023.
Pastor Adeniyi Adisa, a member of the Latter Rain Revival Christian Church, met an unfortunate end during a confrontation between the So-Safe Corps and suspected kidnappers. Ganzallo expressed his condolences, stating,
“It was really an unfortunate situation, a very sad one that none of us is happy about.”
The incident unfolded in Abule-Ori, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, where armed gunmen attacked the Redeemed Christian Church of God, leading to the death of a pastor and the abduction of seven worshippers.
Pastor Adisa, however, had already been kidnapped on June 24 while returning from a visit to a friend in the Yotomi area, Owode Egba, in the same local government area.
Ganzallo, addressing journalists at the Corps’ headquarters in Abeokuta, revealed,
“It was during the operation when the officers engaged in a shoot-out with the kidnappers that the unintended happened.”
He went on to clarify, “The Ogun State Police Command has investigated this case and it has been discovered that Pastor Adeniyi Adisa was a kidnapped victim too and he was never a kidnapper. This retraction is to set the record straight and assuage the feelings of the family that their son, Pastor Adeniyi Adisa was never a kidnapper.”
Ganzallo assured the public that the So-Safe Corps was working closely with the Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Abiodun, to provide compensation to support the children of the deceased within the first week of November.
A family representative expressed gratitude for the clarification, stating,
“It’s a painful loss, but what can we do? As a reasonable family, we have found out that it was an operational error. It was not intended. I am glad my brother’s name has been cleared of being a kidnapper and for the compensation for the children, I know the officers are men of integrity and they will certainly do as promised.”
