Students from Obafemi Awolowo University, situated in Ile-Ife, Osun State, have voiced their discontent and staged a protest in response to the arrest of some of their peers by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Following the recent apprehension of some students of the institution by EFCC operatives, the OAU students gathered at the EFCC office in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday.
According to Channels Television, the protesting students held various placards, voicing their disappointment with the actions of the anti-graft agency.
Among the messages on the placards were: “I am a medical student, not a Yahoo boy,” “Why remove the CCTV cameras if you are armed robbers,” and “Criminals trying to arrest criminals,” among others.
At the EFCC Ibadan office, the premises were heavily guarded by the commission’s operatives. Despite the heightened security presence, the OAU students persisted in their call for the commission’s leadership to address their concerns.
