In a recent development, the Nigerian Army’s Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), tasked with maintaining peace in Plateau, Kaduna, and Bauchi States, has made significant strides in curbing criminal activities in the region.
According to Captain James Oya, the spokesperson of OPSH, a total of 13 suspects have been apprehended for their involvement in kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling, and other criminal offenses.
This operation, conducted between Monday, October 2, and Monday, October 9, resulted in the successful capture of these individuals across various communities within the area of OPSH’s jurisdiction.
Oya stated that “Between October 2 and October 9, our troops arrested 13 criminal suspects in connection with kidnapping, prison break, peddling illicit drugs and rustling.
“We also recovered illegal arms and ammunition.
“Troops recovered a total of 279 cows and six sheep over destruction of crops on farmlands across Bokkos, Mangu, Riyom and Zango Kataf Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Plateau and Kaduna states, respectively.”
Additionally, Captain Oya emphasized that the OPSH troops have thwarted attempts by armed individuals to launch attacks on Washina and Razak communities in the Mangu and Barkin Ladi local government areas of Plateau.
This proactive response serves as a testament to the commitment of the Nigerian Army to maintaining peace and security in the region.
Captain Oya extended a call to the residents of these areas, urging them to support the efforts of the Nigerian Army in combatting crime and criminality.
He emphasized the importance of abiding by the law and reassured residents that OPSH remains dedicated to ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens and the protection of their property.
