Nigeria has secured the second position in global prayerfulness, with a remarkable 95 percent prayer rate, as reported by the Pew Research Centre.
The non-partisan American think-tank, headquartered in Washington, D.C., unveiled the findings, highlighting the nation’s strong tradition of prayer.
This latest ranking echoes a similar assessment by Pew Research Centre back in 2019, which positioned Nigeria as the world’s most prayerful country based on surveys conducted between 2008 and 2017. The consistent high prayer rate reflects the significance of religious faith in the country.
Topping the chart of the most prayerful countries is Afghanistan, with an impressive 96 percent prayer rate. Algeria and Senegal share the third position with an 88 percent prayer rate, followed by Djibouti, Iran, Iraq, Niger, and Indonesia with 87 percent, and completing the top ten list of the most prayerful nations.
On the other end of the spectrum, countries like China (1%), the UK (6%), Switzerland (8%), Austria (8%), Czechoslovakia (9%), Germany (9%), Estonia (9%), France (10%), and Denmark (10%) display notably lower prayer rates, highlighting the diversity in religious practices around the world.
