Prince Ned Nwoko, the Delta North senator-elect, has responded to recent allegations made by Ken Kanma and his spokesperson Delly Ajufo, labeling their claims as a desperate attempt to salvage a sinking ship. In a press statement released by Nwoko’s media directorate on May 14, the senator-elect vehemently denied the allegations and asserted that the people of Delta North overwhelmingly chose him as their representative.
Ajufo, member Labour Party pcc, alleged in an interview that Nwoko had bribed his way to victory and questioned the legitimacy of his win. However, Nwoko’s media directorate swiftly countered these claims, describing Ajufo as a “deadbeat political neophyte” and a “comical opportunist” who is merely grasping at straws.
The statement highlighted the fact that the Delta North senatorial election, held on February 18, 2023, was won decisively by Prince Ned Nwoko of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The media directorate emphasized that the Anioma people, whom Nwoko represents, voted overwhelmingly in his favor, demonstrating their satisfaction with his leadership.
According to the statement, Nwoko remains undeterred by the allegations. He is more focused on his upcoming senatorial inauguration, where he intends to offer excellent representation to the Anioma Nation, fully embracing the irreversible mandate given to him by the people.
The press statement also acknowledged that the matter concerning the senatorial election is currently before the Tribunal, and out of respect for the legal process, Nwoko’s media directorate refrained from engaging further with Kanma’s feeble antics.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Prince Ned Nwoko as the winner of the Delta North senatorial election on February 27, 2023. Nwoko, representing the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), secured 92,514 votes, while Ken Kanma of the Labour Party (LP) garnered 86,121 votes, according to INEC’s returning officer for the senatorial election, Dr. Mrs. Josephine Anene-Okeakwa.
