The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended an artistes’ manager based in Lekki and his accomplice, an Ikoyi businessman, for their involvement in distributing illicit drugs at VIP nightclubs and lounges in the Lekki and Island areas of Lagos state.
Their arrest came after the NDLEA received intelligence about a shipment of a synthetic strong strain of cannabis known as Colorado, which was en route from Los Angeles, United States.
The first suspect, Oseni Abdulraheem Ayodeji Babatunde (aka Papalampa), was caught at his residence in Lekki on July 23rd when the consignment arrived. During questioning, he admitted to engaging in the illicit trade for three years, supplying drugs to patrons of clubs like Quilox, Silver Fox, DNA, and Hotbox in Lekki and Lagos Island. Additionally, Oseni revealed he also organizes shows for artists in Lagos and other countries.
NDLEA operatives intercepted ten parcels of Colorado weighing 2.50kg cleverly concealed inside large tins of coffee and duvets, which were linked to Oseni, at the Lagos International Airport. A search of his residence also led to the discovery of more of the same substance, along with a digital weighing scale and other drug-related items.
Meanwhile, the second suspect, Nnadi Kingsley Ikenna, who is a businessman based in Ikoyi, was away in South Africa when the shipment arrived. However, upon his return to Nigeria on July 27th via a Kenya Airlines flight at the Lagos airport, NDLEA officers apprehended him, and he confessed to owning a portion of the consignment.
