Nigerian musician and owner of Naira Marley Records, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as “Naira Marley” has been apprehended by the police for questioning in connection with the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known as Mohbad.
This development was confirmed by Ben Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, in a statement released on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday night.
“Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities… #justice4Mohbad #justiceforMohbad,” Hundeyin posted.
This medium recalls that the Nigerian Police Force confirmed last Thursday that Balogun Olamilekan Eletu, known as Sam Larry, was in their custody over the death of Mohbad.
In the aftermath of Mohbad’s passing on September 12, there has been public scrutiny, with many Nigerians pointing accusatory fingers at individuals associated with the Marlian record label, including Naira Marley and Sam Larry, for their alleged mistreatment of the late musician. Notably, it is documented that Mohbad had submitted a formal complaint to the police department, expressing concerns about threats to his life, which he attributed to Sam Larry, Naira Marley, and others.
This situation unfolded after an incident where Sam Larry, a close associate of Naira Marley, was captured on camera mistreating Mohbad during a video shoot. Zlatan, another artist, intervened to protect his now-deceased friend during this troubling episode.
