Professor Wole Soyinka was honored as a distinguished guest by the Moroccan government during their 28th annual week-long book festival. The event attracted literary luminaries from both Morocco and abroad.
On Friday, June 9, 2023, Soyinka participated in a press conference alongside Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. Later, at Ribat Al Fath, he engaged in a conversation with Ali Benmakhlouf.
The following day, June 10, the Nobel Laureate visited Al Qaraouiyine in the city of Fez. This historic UNESCO world heritage site is renowned as one of the oldest universities globally, featuring medieval architecture, a vibrant medina, and captivating sights and sounds.
After his memorable time in Morocco, Soyinka departed Rabat on June 11 to attend the 12 June events in Lagos.
