Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has established a nine-member panel to examine the tragic demise of Greatness Tolulope Olorunfemi, a 33-year-old who lost her life after falling victim to a “one chance” vehicle attack in Abuja.
Olorunfemi, a victim of the notorious “one chance” armed robberies in Abuja, was brutally attacked while unsuspectingly boarding such a vehicle. She was subsequently stabbed and ejected from the moving vehicle along the Maitama-Kubwa highway.
The investigative panel, tasked with probing her untimely death, includes representatives from prominent healthcare associations such as the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDDAN), Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), and others.
Minister Wike conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and friends and reiterated his unwavering commitment to ensuring that the investigation is conducted transparently, with integrity and professionalism.
According to an official statement from the Health Service & Environment Secretariat (FCT), the investigative panel will be formally inaugurated on Thursday at 10 am, at the health and environment secretariat’s new office location in Abuja Property Development Company, area 11, behind aegis, FCT.
The Secretariat, in acknowledging the patience and understanding of the public, also pledged to share the panel’s findings with the public as soon as the investigation is concluded.
Following the incident, the victim was rushed to Maitama District Hospital in Abuja, where she was tragically confirmed dead.
Greatness Tolulope Olorunfemi, prior to her passing, held the positions of Assistant Secretary and Public Relations Officer at the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), Abuja Chapter, and was an active member of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) network.
