A 43-year-old man, Linus Dimas, has been taken into custody by authorities in Adamawa State, northeast Nigeria.
He is suspected of fatally stabbing Yauba Usman, a court clerk who approached him with a summons in Kugama Wuro Jibir, Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area. The tragic incident unfolded on Monday, leaving the community in shock.
Dimas reportedly refused the court summons handed to him by Usman, who was representing Nasarawo Jereng Area Court.
In a heated altercation, the suspect attacked Usman with a knife multiple times, causing severe injuries. Despite efforts to save him, Usman succumbed to his wounds upon reaching the hospital.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, released a statement on Tuesday confirming the arrest and revealing that the police commissioner has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter.
He said; “Adamawa State Police Command on 18/12/2023 arrested Linus Dimas, 43 years old, a resident of Kugama Wuro Jibir, Mayo Belwa Local Government.
“The suspect, on 18/12/2023 rejected court summons served on him by Yauba Usman, a staff member of Nasarawo Jereng Area Court and stabbed him with a knife severally thereby inflicting deep cuts on him.
“The court clerk was immediately rushed to the hospital but was confirmed dead. The Commissioner of Police directs case be discreetly investigated.
