A man identified as Taye Agbaje allegedly murdered two young children belonging to his younger brother. The incident took place in a bush in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
Reportedly, on August 5th, Taye Agbaje went to his sibling’s residence in Kemta Abata, Abeokuta. He took the two girls on his motorcycle and later killed them using a cutlass. Daily Trust reported.
The children’s father, Idowu Agbaje, was not home when Taye took the girls. Upon his return in the evening, he began searching for them and was informed by community members that they had been seen on Taye’s motorcycle.
The residents of Kemta Abata were shocked by the incident since Taye was not a member of their community.
An anonymous community source shared that Taye initially denied knowledge of the girls’ whereabouts, even though community members witnessed him with them. He was taken into police custody and later confessed to killing his nieces, leading the police to the site in the bush where he had left their bodies.
Taye did not provide a clear motive for his actions, only mentioning that he believed the children’s mother had spiritually harmed his brother. The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, expressing her bewilderment at the senseless act. During police questioning, Taye did not display any remorse and continually blamed Satan for his actions.
Odutola pledged to provide more details about the incident in due course.
