“Democracy Day holds great significance in our nation’s history,” emphasized Ned Munir Nwoko, the elected senator for Delta North senatorial district. He acknowledged the struggles, sacrifices, and aspirations of past heroes who fought relentlessly for the cherished democratic ideals of today. Nwoko stressed the power of unity, perseverance, and the collective will of the people to shape their own destiny.

“While we cannot ignore the challenges that lie before us, Nigeria, like any other nation, is not without flaws and imperfections,” Nwoko admitted. However, he urged addressing these issues directly, utilizing the strength and determination found during times of celebration and reflection, to forge a better future for all Nigerians.

“Today, let us renew our commitment to the principles of democracy and good governance,” Nwoko declared. He emphasized that democracy is not simply a system of governance but a way of life that requires active participation, vigilance, and dedication to the common good. Respecting the rule of law, protecting human rights, and promoting social justice are integral to this commitment.

In line with these ideals, Nwoko emphasized the importance of inclusivity, ensuring that every Nigerian has an equal opportunity to thrive and contribute to the nation’s progress. He called for bridging the divisions that separate us, be they ethnic, religious, or socioeconomic, and fostering a sense of national unity and cohesion.

Nwoko’s message concluded with these words: “Let us embrace these ideals and work together towards a brighter future for Nigeria.”
