The Lagos police authorities have disclosed the existence of compelling evidence connecting Naira Marley and Sam Larry to cyberbullying, physical abuse, threats to life, and assault against 27-year-old singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, whose demise on September 12, 2023, remains under questionable circumstances.
While videos have emerged posthumously showing the singer alleging bullying and assault, many have accused Naira Marley (Abdulazeez Fashola) and Sam Larry (Samson Balogun) of complicity, a charge that the duo vehemently deny.
During a press briefing held on October 6, Lagos State Police Commissioner Idowu Owohunwa revealed that substantial evidence points to Naira Marley and Sam Larry’s involvement in the assault against Mohbad.
“Many of the 26 witnesses alleged that the deceased was indeed bullied and assaulted several times by Naira Marley and Sam Larry, along with their associates. It was confirmed that in 2019, the deceased was allegedly signed by Naira Marley into his record label, Marlian Music Limited. However, due to contractual disagreements, the deceased sought to terminate his contract with Marlian Music and also replace his then-manager, who happened to be Naira Marley’s brother. Witnesses assert that these actions provoked the suspects, leading them to allegedly conspire, bully, and assault the deceased. Additionally, there is corroborative video evidence showing that before his demise, Mohbad had expressed concerns about threats to his life, bullying, and assaults by Naira Marley and Sam Larry.”
“Upon their arrest, Naira Marley and Sam Larry denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death, claiming they were out of the country when the incident occurred and had no part in the events leading to his tragic passing between September 10-12, 2023. However, a substantial body of evidence implicates both Naira Marley and Sam Larry in allegations of threats to life, cyberstalking, and various crimes committed against Mohbad during his lifetime, and they are being held liable for these accusations.”
