In a distressing incident that unfolded last night, four students from Nasarawa State University (NSUK), Keffi, were reportedly abducted by suspected kidnappers in the Angwan ka’are community within Keffi Local Government Area of the state.
The students, who were abducted outside the university campus at 10:30 pm on Monday, have been identified as Rahila Hanya (SLT 100 Level), Josephine Gershon (Computer Science 100 Level), Rosemary Samuel (Business Administration 100 Level), and Goodness Samuel (Geography 100 Level).
University officials, when contacted, confirmed their awareness of the incident. The University Head of Information and Protocol, Abraham Ekpo, stated that the university’s internal security was collaborating with other law enforcement agencies to secure the safe release of the abducted students.
The Nasarawa State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, also confirmed the abduction. He revealed that the police received a distress call at approximately 12:55 am, reporting an invasion of a house in Angwan ka’are, Keffi, by unidentified armed individuals.
In response, the police, in coordination with the military, immediately launched a search operation in the area and are actively pursuing the kidnappers.
Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt to track down the culprits and ensure the safe return of the victims unharmed.
This incident is part of a concerning trend of rising crime rates in Keffi Local Government Area, which includes cases of male private manhood disappearance, rape, kidnapping, and other crimes within the university community. Particularly in areas like Angwan Lambu, the High Court vicinity, and various parts of the LGA.
