After a prolonged illness, the Governor of Ondo State Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, has died at the age of 67.
According to a Premium Times report, the Governor died at about 2:00 am on Wednesday at a German hospital where he was receiving treatment, a senior government official in Ondo State.
Akeredolu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who was first elected governor of Ondo State in 2016 reportedly died of leukemia and prostate cancer.
The Ondo State governor returned to Nigeria in September after embarking on a three-month medical leave in Germany.
The governor had handed over power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on December 13, for him to travel to Germany for treatment after his health reportedly worsened.
