Following his four-game ban imposed by UEFA for verbally attacking Anthony Taylor, Roma manager Jose Mourinho has chosen to resign from his position on the board of the European football’s governing body.
Mourinho was charged and found guilty of using insulting or abusive language, intensifying the conflict between him and UEFA. In a letter addressed to UEFA’s chief of football, Zvonimir Boban, the 60-year-old expressed his regret and immediate renouncement of his participation in the group.
Mourinho cited the absence of the conditions he believed in when he initially joined as the reason for his decision and requested Boban to inform UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin of his choice. The UEFA football board comprises former and current coaches and players who aim to address issues related to game rules, refereeing, and the football calendar.
