The proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), on Saturday, initiated the distribution of flyers and posters across the SouthEast to inform residents about the cancellation of the sit-at-home exercise in the region.
IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, stated, “Monday weekly sit-at-home: An ugly phase of a bygone history that must never be repeated, as echoed by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”
Mr. Powerful explained that the exercise aimed to convey Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s pronouncement canceling Monday’s sit-at-home. The group emphasized that anyone discussing a nonexistent sit-at-home in the SouthEast is an enemy of the people and will be dealt with accordingly.
The purpose of the distribution was also to communicate that the sit-at-home practice is “dead” and will never again be used as a tool of civil disobedience in the group’s pursuit of self-determination, according to him. He further noted that the instructions to distribute the flyers and paste posters were authorized by the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Mr. Powerful’s statement cautioned that anyone talking about sit-at-home in Igbo land again remains an enemy of the people and will face consequences. The statement clarified that the Supreme Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has permanently ended the Monday sit-at-home in the SouthEast.
The statement read, “Anybody seen enforcing this illegal and non-existent Monday sit-at-home will be apprehended and summarily dealt with on the spot.”
It also pointed out that individuals purporting to run a Biafra Government in exile from somewhere in Finland, known as Autopilot, are not IPOB members and do not represent the views of Kanu, rank and file IPOB membership, or ESN operatives. Mr. Powerful emphasized, “This is an absolute disgrace.”
He labeled these individuals as “shameless parasites” and asserted that their activities and affiliation with IPOB and Kanu’s name do not grant legitimacy. The statement made it clear that Kanu has no connection with the so-called Biafra Government in Exile.
IPOB encouraged the people of the SouthEast to aid in distributing the flyers and posters, symbolizing the end of the Monday sit-at-home practice. The group warned that those enforcing sit-at-home would regret their actions and that the self-proclaimed leader of BGIE would not be able to save them.
