Alex Ohaegbunem, son of late Chief Emeka Alex Ohaegbunem, former local government chairman of Aniocha North, Delta state, has stated the need for political consciousness amongst Nigerian youths.
Alex Ohaegbunem, a passionate political enthusiast, noted that in a developing nation like Nigeria, where political engagement is crucial for progress and development, every youth, irrespective of backgrounds and beliefs ought to be politically aware.
According to him, his interest in politics stems from his family background. “My late father, Hon. Chief Emeka Alex Ohaegbunem was well respected and served as a local government chairman. Growing up in such an environment instilled in me a deep understanding of the significance of political leadership and governance.” Alex stated.
Recently, Alex actively participated in his uncle Ned Nwoko’s political campaign in the just concluded elections. Nwoko emerged victorious as the senator-elect, Delta North senatorial district.
Alex testified that the experience of being involved in the election process further fueled his passion for politics and motivated him to inspire other Nigerian youths to follow suit.
He firmly believes that, youths hold immense potential to transform the nation.
“Political awareness and involvement provide an opportunity for young people to address pressing issues that affect their lives directly. Also, by engaging with the political landscape, youths become more informed and able to form rational opinions on issues of national importance.” Alex voiced.
The young political enthusiast was spotted with his senator-elect uncle at the inauguration ceremony of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Delta state governor, on Monday, at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba.
