The distribution of vehicles and logistics for security management in the November 11 governorship elections in Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi states has been ordered by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
This development was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement issued on Sunday.
Adding that the IGP had ordered the distribution of 220 operational vehicles, including water cannons, Armored Personnel Carriers, helmets, bullet proof vests, tear gas canisters, amongst others to the three states.
The PPRO stressed that the IGP had organised training programmes for the police officers who would be involved in the security management for the forthcoming elections and sought the approval of the Federal Government for the payment of their allowances and other necessary support to boost their morale during the operations.
 He maintained that the police boss urged all stakeholders in the three states to embrace peace, uphold the sanctity of the rule of law and be law-abiding in their endeavours before, during and after the elections.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the police and other security agencies had been placed on alert to avert any unruly acts capable of disrupting the elections in any of the states.
