Delta state Governor, Rt.Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has assured Deltans that his administration is committed to the unity of the state and emphasized that there will be no room for sectionalism and nepotism in the management of government affairs.
During the swearing-in ceremony of Dr. Kingsley Emu as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo as Senior Political Adviser (SPOLAD) in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori congratulated the appointees and urged them to align with the M.O.R.E agenda of his administration. The agenda focuses on infrastructural renewal, human capital development, and social investment programs.
Governor Oborevwori emphasized that political appointees must reject ethnic politics and sectionalism, treating the entire state as their constituency. He stressed the importance of fairness and justice in their actions and interactions with all Deltans. He said, “Both of you must always strive for unity by ensuring that there is fairness, equity, and justice in all your actions and utterances.”
Dr. Emu’s extensive government experience was highlighted by the Governor as a valuable asset for the implementation of the administration’s MORE agenda. The Governor expressed confidence in Dr. Emu’s ability to integrate the policy direction into the operations of government ministries and agencies.
The Governor underscored the significance of the SSG role, describing it as the engine room of government that coordinates the operations of all MDAs. He emphasized the need for the SSG to be a consensus builder, skillfully merging policy with politics. Governor Oborevwori expressed his belief that Dr. Emu, with his background in corporate governance and the public sector, is well-equipped for this responsibility.
The Governor advised Dr. Emu to maintain accessibility to all and remain patient and resourceful in handling the demands of the office. He emphasized the importance of discipline, firmness, and decorum in carrying out the duties of the SSG.
Governor Oborevwori assured the people of Delta State of his commitment to implementing the administration’s M.O.R.E agenda. He stated that appointments would be based on capacity and merit, reiterating the government’s aim to have a competent and deserving team.
In response, Dr. Emu expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for considering them worthy of serving in the administration. He pledged loyalty to the M.O.R.E agenda, aimed at advancing Delta State.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme, former Governor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, former Deputy Governor Chief Benjamin Elue, Senator James Manager, and other dignitaries.
According to Vanguard, Governor Oborevwori said, “Let me sound it loud and clear that this administration has zero tolerance for sectionalism or nepotism. I am an unrepentant believer in the unity of Delta State.”
