Borno State Police have apprehended Musa Dauda, a former member of Boko Haram who is accused of killing and burying his ex-wife, Hafsat Musa, at a farm located at Muhammed Goni stadium in Maiduguri. The shocking incident was confirmed by ASP Sani Kamilu, the police spokesperson in Borno.
According to Kamilu, Dauda had invited 45-year-old Hafsat to meet him on her farm within the stadium premises on September 12. Tragically, Hafsat disappeared after accepting the invitation, and her whereabouts remained unknown.
Kamilu stated, “The case was not reported to the police until a few days later when the decomposing body of Hafsat was discovered on the farm by her relatives.”
Law enforcement promptly initiated an investigation, visiting the scene and transferring Hafsat’s remains to Umaru Shehu Ultramodern Hospital in Maiduguri for an autopsy.
Additionally, Kamilu noted that Dauda was apprehended on Thursday, September 21, and he confessed to committing the crime. According to the suspect’s statement, he claimed to have seen Hafsat with another person on the farm. In a disturbing turn of events, he allegedly struck her on the head with a hoe, leading to her untimely demise.
After committing the act, Dauda purportedly buried Hafsat on the farm before fleeing the scene.
Kamilu assured that once the investigation concludes, the suspect will be arraigned for the alleged murder.
