A 45-year-old football coach has been apprehended by police in Akure, Ondo State, following allegations of being involved in the death of his ex-lover.
The police spokesperson, Olufumilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident, stating that a woman had reported her mother’s ex-lover, Bankole Oginni, for inviting the deceased to his residence in Akure’s Oke Aro area.
After she went to his house, she did not return, and her phone was turned off.
When the woman traced her mother’s whereabouts, she tragically discovered her lifeless body in the ex-lover’s room. The deceased had been restrained, with her hands and legs bound, and her body showed signs of mutilation, including removed intestines.
Additionally, there were indications of burns from hot water on her body.
The suspect, who identified himself as a footballer, is now in custody, and the deceased’s body has been taken to the morgue.
