In a heartbreaking incident at the Federal Polytechnic, Offa in Kwara State, Toyin Bamidele, a Higher National Diploma (HND) student from the Food Technology Department, was allegedly hacked to death in her rented off-campus apartment.
Mrs. Folake Oyinloye, the institution’s acting head of Public Relations, confirmed the devastating news and expressed strong condemnation for the “inhumane act.”
“The management condemns this inhumane act in strong terms, as it is strange in the polytechnic community,” stated Mrs. Oyinloye, assuring that the management, in collaboration with security agencies, has launched an investigation into the tragic incident.
“Her demise is an irreparable loss to the entire management and Staff of the Polytechnic,” Oyinloye conveyed, emphasizing the profound impact of Toyin’s untimely death on the polytechnic community.
The statement continued, “The management somberly condoles with her family, friends, and the Department of Food Technology for the great loss and urges anyone who has useful information on this occurrence to report to Security Agents.”
“The management prays to God to repose her soul, grant her eternal rest and uphold her family to bear the loss,” concluded Oyinloye, expressing heartfelt condolences and the hope for strength for Toyin’s grieving family.
As the polytechnic community grapples with the shock and sorrow of this tragedy, the urgent need to identify and apprehend the perpetrators remains a focal point in the ongoing investigation.
