A man named Gabriel Okon Ekpiri from Ekit Itam Akpan Obong in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force. He sold his nine-year-old son for N400,000.
Ekpiri, who was apprehended by the Quick Intervention Squad of the police command, admitted to the crime, attributing it to the influence of the devil and the economic hardship he faced. According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Olatoye Durosinmi, condemned the heinous act, describing it as barbaric and completely unacceptable. The two Deputy Commissioners of Police serving in the Command, DCP Baba Lawan Audu and DCP Lawal Isa Mani, were also decorated by the Commissioner on Monday.
