After enduring a prolonged struggle with blood clotting in his leg, renowned actor John Okafor, affectionately known as Mr Ibu, has passed away.
The veteran actor breathed his last in a Lagos state hospital on Saturday, March 2.
Family sources revealed that Okafor had been on life support following a recent second surgery for his ailment. Despite efforts to stabilize his condition, his blood pressure remained dangerously high, exceeding 200, until his unfortunate demise earlier today.
For years, the actor grappled with recurring blood clotting in his leg, alongside other health issues. In October 2023, he publicly appealed for financial aid to address his condition.
Despite plans for international medical treatment, his doctors deemed him unfit to travel, leading to the cancellation of the overseas arrangements.
Tragically, Okafor underwent a leg amputation in November 2023 as part of his treatment journey.
Survived by his wife and children, the 62-year-old actor was widely acclaimed for his comedic prowess on the silver screen, endearing him to audiences across generations.
May his soul find eternal rest. Amen.
