Nigerian rapper, Eva Alordiah, has opened up about her decision to step away from a seemingly successful music career and embark on a transformative journey.
In a heartfelt post shared on her X, Eva, renowned for her exceptional rap music, revealed that a few years ago, she reached a point of burnout, financial struggle, and persistent depression.
Eva expressed that, during that challenging period, she felt like the living embodiment of the “Starving Artist” cliché. She decided to take a three-year hiatus to focus on investing in herself, a decision that ultimately changed her life for the better.
In her own words, she said, “A few years ago, I walked away from a seemingly ‘successful’ music career. I was burnt out. Depression had taken an almost permanent seat beside me. My bank balance was just enough to buy my next meal. If there was a picture of the phrase ‘Starving Artist,’ it would have been my damn face.”
However, Eva didn’t let her circumstances define her. She made a courageous decision to take control of her life. She dedicated the next three years to relentless self-improvement, which involved enhancing her physical well-being, voracious reading, nurturing her mental health, and acquiring valuable knowledge through online courses.
She also delved into the world of entrepreneurship, learning how to generate income and establishing multiple online businesses.
Looking back on her journey, Eva affirmed that she wouldn’t change a thing. Taking responsibility for her situation and making a commitment to self-improvement was the turning point that led to a significantly improved life.
She proudly proclaimed, “Today my life is so much better because I was bold enough to say – ‘Na me fuck up!'”
