In the Mediterranean city of Alexandria, Egypt, an Egyptian policeman has opened fire on tourists, leading to the unfortunate loss of life, including at least two Israeli nationals and one Egyptian.
A statement from Egypt’s Interior Ministry said that another person was wounded in the attack at the Pompey’s Pillar site in Alexandria.
The wounded person was identified by Israel’s foreign Ministry as an Israeli who suffered moderate injuries. The ministry disclosed in a statement that Israeli authorities were working with the Egyptian government to bring the Israelis home.
As maintained by Extra News, the presumed attacker was apprehended, and the location of the assault was sealed off whilst a video circulating on social media depicted three ambulances seemingly transporting the victims to hospitals.
Sunday’s incident occurred concurrently with Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip as Israel engaged in combat with Hamas militants who had breached Israeli territory, resulting in the tragic loss of approximately 250 Israeli lives.
It is worth noting that at least 313 Palestinians have tragically lost their lives due to Israeli bombardments in the Gaza Strip, a region that has endured a 16-year Israeli blockade.
