Honourable Somadina Anwasia, the Empowerment Committee Chairman for Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has commended the senator’s efforts in delivering on his campaign promises. Speaking during the Ned Phenomenon program on Bridge Radio, Asaba, Anwasia highlighted the numerous empowerment programs initiated by the senator since he assumed office.
According to Anwasia, Senator Ned Nwoko, within just five months of taking office, launched his first empowerment and training programs targeted at youths and women in Delta North, and since then several empowerment and training programs have been rolled out by the Senator.
“We must commend Senator Ned Nwoko for his efforts since assuming office as the Senator representing the good people of Delta North. Starting in November last year, barely five months after he assumed office, he launched his first empowerment and training programs for the youths and women of Delta North, which is part of his campaign promises. The senator had mentioned during the election that youths and women must be included in everything he does. The program took place in Asaba, with beneficiaries drawn from all 98 wards of Delta North.
“Since then, we have rolled out several empowerment and training programs across our communities, ensuring that everyone is included. The Senator’s focus is to ensure that the empowerment reaches the grassroots, including those who do not have any direct connection to his office”, he stated.
Anwasia disclosed that he has been deeply involved in the empowerment processes and that about five different programs on empowerment have been executed so far. One of the notable aspects of these programs, according to him, is the immediate disbursement of grants to participants at the venue, eliminating delays typically associated with such initiatives.
“What stands out about the empowerment programs the Senator attracts is that participants receive their support grants immediately, right at the venue of the empowerment programs. This is unlike other programs where participants have to wait for weeks or months to receive their financial support.
“The Senator is not a man driven by party politics; he is a man of principle and makes sure to include everyone. We have even empowered the Muslim community in Delta North because they also cast their votes here. As I speak to you, many more empowerment programs have been designed and will be rolled out for various groups. It’s important to highlight these empowerment efforts in addition to the landmark projects he has facilitated.”
Anwasia appealed to constituents who have not yet benefited from the programs to be patient, assuring them that the initiative would eventually reach everyone.
“I take this opportunity to appeal to those who haven’t directly benefited from the empowerment programs to exercise a little patience. With time, the empowerment will reach everyone. We have created a database to track beneficiaries to avoid repeating individuals before the empowerment programs have fully gone around. To manage this effectively, the Empowerment Committee has created subcommittees in the nine local government areas to ensure that the right people, who genuinely need the empowerment, are selected. I also appeal to constituents to be patient, and note that even if you haven’t personally benefited, a relative—such as your mother or father—may have benefited”, he said.
In addition to the empowerment programs, Anwasia noted that the senator had distributed 1,000 bags of fertilizer to local farmers to support agricultural development, recognizing the critical role agriculture plays in the nation’s economy.
He further stated that Senator Nwoko has many more programs in the pipeline, and rather than focusing solely on his landmark projects, the people of Delta North should look forward to more empowerment initiatives.
“So far, the Distinguished Senator is doing so well, and with the feedback I am receiving, our people are happy with him. In the next one year, the empowerment will reach everyone, and I assure you that what is coming is even better than what we have seen so far,” Anwasia assured.
