The Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, has called on President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to address the security challenges in northern Nigeria urgently.
CNG spokesperson, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, expressed these concerns during an emergency meeting of the National and State executives of the CNG in Abuja.
He emphasized the need for immediate action in response to the escalating banditry and kidnapping activities in the region, especially in rural areas of Zamfara and the frontline states of Katsina, Niger, Sokoto, and Kaduna.
Suleiman stated,
“We remain firm in our stance that President Tinubu must demonstrate genuine commitment to addressing the security challenges in the North, departing from the usual approach. To convey this determination, prompt action is required.”
Suleiman concluded by emphasizing,
“We call the attention of the government to note the growing frustration and mounting anger across the North, and in particular, the North-West, as citizens feel increasingly insecure.
“People are becoming exasperated, and it seems those tasked with securing lives and properties are either helpless or ill-prepared to act.”
