The Imo State Police Command has verified an assault on a Correctional Service Farm Settlement in Umualomoke community, Okigwe Local Government Area, resulting in the escape of seven inmates, the kidnapping of the farm settlement’s officer in charge, and the demise of a police inspector.

According to Henry Okoye, the police spokesperson, Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma has mobilized the Command’s Special Tactical Squad to collaborate with the military and other security agencies to apprehend the assailants.

Additionally, gunmen targeted the residence of Patrick Ndubeze, the lawmaker representing Imo North Senatorial District in the same area.

Okoye emphasized that the police commissioner has directed the tactical team to intensify efforts to safely rescue the abducted officer and apprehend the escaped inmates.

He urged the public to provide any relevant information to aid in the arrest of the perpetrators and assured the citizens of adequate security measures to prevent future incidents, encouraging them to continue with their lawful activities without fear.
