Scores of Lagos residents attending Mohbad’s candlelight procession were sent scattering when the police reportedly deployed tear gas to disperse the crowd.
The candlelight procession and memorial concert for Mohbad took place on Thursday night, September 21.
The procession commenced earlier in the evening at Lekki Phase 1, while the memorial concert began at 8 PM at Muri Okunola Park in Victoria Island, Lagos.
However, by 11 PM, individuals still partaking in the procession at Lekki reported on social media that they had been tear-gassed by the police in an effort to disperse them.
Videos captured from the scene depict people in a frantic rush as tear gas smoke envelops the area. One video even shows individuals stumbling while attempting to flee.
