A 27-year-old Nigerian chef named Hilda Baci is poised to set a new Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking time” achieved by an individual.
Currently, Hilda has been cooking for an impressive 67 hours and counting, with less than 21 hours remaining to surpass the existing Guinness World Record.
Hilda initially shared her ambitious goal on April 2nd through an Instagram post, revealing her determination to turn her five-year-long dream into reality.
She declared her intention to cook continuously for four days and four nights, aiming to break the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes set by Chef Lata London in Rewa, India, back in 2019.
Initially scheduled to commence on April 28th, the event had to be rescheduled to May 11th at Amore Gardens, Lekki, Lagos. This change was made to accommodate the additional participants who expressed their desire to attend the event.
On Sunday, in response to a tweet from Guinness World Records that read, “today is a good day to break a world record,” Hilda confidently replied, “I’m on it.”
Throughout her remarkable journey, Hilda has received unwavering support from celebrities, food bloggers, and individuals from all walks of life, as she continues her extraordinary feat in the pursuit of making history.
