In a tragic turn of events, Ibrahim Idriss Garba, the Commissioner of Rehabilitation, Reconstruction, and Resettlement in Borno State, has been confirmed to have passed away just two months after taking up his official duties.
The Commissioner’s demise occurred at his private guest house situated in the 777 Housing Estate on the outskirts of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. It is reported that he was promptly rushed to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, where his unfortunate death was confirmed.
Prior to his untimely passing, Commissioner Ibrahim had been involved in an accident while traveling with the Governor’s convoy during a working tour of Southern Borno in September. This incident left him injured and marked a somber prelude to his passing.
In response to the tragic news, the Special Adviser to the Governor on media and strategy, Isah Gusau, released a statement indicating that the Borno State Police Command had initiated an urgent investigation to ascertain the cause of the Commissioner’s death.
“The Borno State police command has commenced urgent investigation into the death of the state’s commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, and Resettlement (RRR), Engr Ibrahim Idriss Garba,” Governor Babagana Umara Zulum’s spokesman confirmed.
Before taking on the role of Commissioner, late Engr Ibrahim Idriss Garba had served as the Governor’s Special Adviser on Special Projects. His appointment as Commissioner of RRR marked the beginning of Governor Zulum’s ongoing second term.
