Bobrisky sentenced to six months in jail for naira abuse
Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos has delivered a verdict, sentencing cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, to six months in prison with no option of a fine.
The judgement was pronounced on the morning of Friday, April 12.
Earlier, on April 5th, the EFCC had brought Bobrisky before the court on a six-count charge, including Abuse of the Naira and Money Laundering.
Although the court dismissed the money laundering charges, Bobrisky was found guilty of Naira Abuse after confessing to the offense. Additionally, the court ordered his remand in EFCC detention in Lagos.
Originally scheduled for April 9, the judgement hearing was postponed due to the Eid-Fitri public holiday, which lasted from April 9 to April 11.
