The Abia State Police Command has taken significant steps in the investigation into the tragic murder of Mr. Chigozie Chigbu.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, made this revelation in a statement released to journalists on Friday, Sept. 22.
According to Chinaka, she stated, “It was reported that the lifeless body of an individual was discovered in one Mr. Chigbu’s compound.
“The deceased was later identified as Chigbu Chigozie, a 65-year-old resident of Umumba, Nsirimo, Ubakala, Umuahia South Local Government Area. He was found lying in a pool of blood with multiple machete wounds to his head.”
Confirming Chigbu’s unfortunate demise, Chinaka mentioned that the victim’s body had been transferred to the mortuary, where it would undergo an autopsy to delve further into the details of the crime.
Chinaka added, “Some suspects have been arrested, and preliminary investigations are ongoing. The case would be subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, and we assure the public that the police are diligently working to apprehend the criminals.”
The PPRO also issued a plea to anyone with potentially valuable information related to the murder case to come forward and assist the police in their efforts to seek justice.
