The Anioma Sons and Daughters Forum, alongside their spouses and in-laws, hosted its inaugural end-of-year celebration on Sunday, December 15, at the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority headquarters in Abuja. The event served as a platform for community engagement and advocacy, with participants lauding Senator Ned Munir Nwoko’s commitment to the Anioma cause.
In his opening remarks, the forum’s chairman, Pastor Vincent Ofuasia, described the group as a much-needed voice for Anioma people. He expressed gratitude to Senator Nwoko, whose idea inspired the creation of the forum.
“Senator Ned Nwoko is the backbone behind this platform. During one of my visits, he encouraged me to set up a group where he could connect directly with his constituents in Abuja and surrounding areas. He wanted to be accessible to his people and understand their needs. That led to the birth of this forum. His leadership has been nothing short of extraordinary. While many politicians forget their people after elections, Senator Nwoko has consistently demonstrated selflessness and remains committed to Anioma’s growth”, he said.
Pastor Ofuasia also emphasized the forum’s role as an advocacy group for all nine local government areas in Delta North. “This is a platform where we can make demands and hold our leaders accountable. It is time for our leaders, both traditional and political, to work together for the progress of Anioma. We also call on those in influential positions to assist our unemployed graduates and others in need. This platform serves as a bridge between the people and their leaders,” he added.
Represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Chiedu Abili Mordi, Senator Nwoko emphasized his dedication to Anioma’s development and the ongoing efforts to secure Anioma State.
“Distinguished Senator Ned Nwoko is a true son of Anioma, fully committed to this cause. The creation of Anioma State is a shared aspiration that promises numerous benefits, including increased political representation and development closer to home,” Mordi stated.
He urged the forum members to remain united and steadfast in their support. “The Senator appreciates your moral support and encourages you to keep pushing forward. This is a fight whose time has come, and with your encouragement, we will achieve it,” he added.
Dr. Morgan Okocha, Director General of the Nigerian Institute for Forensic and Security Studies and a prominent figure in the forum, praised Senator Nwoko’s leadership in championing the Anioma State movement.
“Senator Ned Nwoko has been at the forefront of this historic cause, despite opposition from those with selfish interests. We stand firmly behind him and are committed to providing the moral and strategic support needed to achieve this goal,” Dr. Okocha affirmed.
